Construction of a Log Debarking and Chipping Line

Project Description

As part of the existing pellet production plant, a new log debarking and chipping line has been constructed, replacing the previous mobile shredder that operated on fossil fuels. By installing the new electrically powered line, the project aims to achieve energy savings, reduce CO2 emissions, and enhance efficiency and flexibility in pellet production.

The new line has been built outside the existing facility, with components that generate high noise levels enclosed within a soundproof barrier. The main equipment of the line includes:

Stationary Hydraulic Arm (“Grapple”)
- Maximum reach: Lmax = 9.7 m
- Operating pressure: p = 280 bar
- Maximum lifting capacity: m = 2520 kg
Log Splitter
- Floor dimensions: 2500 mm x 1000 mm
Debarker
- Dimensions (L x W x H): 2100 mm x 5300 mm x 3700 mm
- Maximum log diameter for debarking: dmax = 700 mm
Shredder
- Dimensions (L x W x H): 2500 mm x 6300 mm x 2500 mm
- Chipping capacity: 200 m³/h

Enerkon obtained the necessary special conditions and prepared the project documentation, which served as the basis for obtaining the building permit.

Adaptation of a production of EPSIK plant

Project description

The PS II plant was revitalized in order to increase the production capacity of expanded polystyrene to 16 000 t per year. The former EPSIK production unit consisted of two plants, Polystyrene I (PS I) and Polystyrene II (PS II). Polystyrene grain (PS) was produced in PS I as the first stage of expanding polystyrene (EPS) production. Most of the PS produced was sent for further processing to PS II for the second stage of EPS production. A small part was processed in the final processing stage of PS I into a finished product of general purpose polystyrene (GPS) and rubber modified polystyrene (HIPS). This plant was closed in 1998. The reopening of production is not planned.
In PS II, EPS was produced in the second stage of production. With the closure of PS I, the entire production of EPS (first and second stage) was transferred to PS II with the use of some auxiliary sections in PS I. Production was closed in 2003 due to inefficiency. The owner decided to initiate activities for the revitalization of the existing PS II plant, which will be adapted to a one-stage production of EPS by purchasing a license and replacing parts of the existing equipment. This adapted plant retains its appearance, capacity and technological flow of the existing PS II and auxiliary sections in PS I. The new EPS product basically retains or improves the properties of the product manufactured until 2003, with higher utilization, lower energy consumption and reduced emissions into the atmosphere.

Equalization plant in a yeast factory

Project description

The purpose of going through with this project, construction and commissioning of an additional equalization plant in addition to the existing one is to enable the acceptance of the total daily amount of wastewater from yeast production and to achieve a uniform value of effluent at the inlet and outlet of the device. The role of equalization tanks is to equalize wastewater in line with load concentration and quantity.

District heating system in Pokupsko

Project description

Reason for investing: delivery of heat from a hot water boiler room on biomass with a capacity of 1 MW to the consumers. Pre-insulated steel pipelines DN125, DN80, DN65, and DN50 are installed, with a total route length of about 2 km.

District heating system in Zrinjevac

Project title: Buried pre-insulated heating pipe for greenhouse heating
Investor: Zagrebački holding d.o.o., Zrinjevac branch
Location: Zagreb, Croatia
Construction completion: 2019

Project description

In order to grow seedlings more efficiently, greenhouses need to be heated on colder days. Previously, thermal energy was obtained from the natural gas boiler room, but since Zrinjevac has significant amounts of its own biomass, the possibility of reconstructing the boiler room with the use of biomass - wood chips was imposed. This way, biomass was used efficiently, while at the same time financial savings on heating costs were achieved. The heating pipeline connects the existing biomass boiler room with greenhouses. Inside all greenhouses, fan coils of suitable power are installed.
